I wanted to share how activated charcoal helped me with my eye infections and allergies.
(Take caution, and FYI this does burn a little)
So I had a bad eye infection before and after reading about activated charcoal I decided to try it. I took 1 tablespoon, or 4 capsules of organic activated charcoal and mixed it in like a 1/2 cup of distilled water. I used a eye dropper to drop 3-6 drops in my eyes, I always aim for the white part of the eyes, don’t do directly on the cornea (although I have done this) it could potentially scratch the eye ball. I would lay on my back and put the rest of the mixture on a cloth/paper towel or I would pore it over my closed eye and just hold a cloth over it for like 5-10 minutes while slowly moving my eye ball around. If you pour it over make sure you are laying on a towel because it is messy, you should have a towel anyways to lay on. I did this to each eye every night before I went to bed. Sometimes I would sleep with it still in my eye, it doesn’t burn the entire times, its usually in the beginning when you drop it in but you will feel like there is something in your eye but just around it so it’s not that annoying, and in the morning I just wipe my eyes are with a luke warm towel. And the charcoal usually goes to the corners of your eyes so you can just pick it out (make sure you wash your hands before you touch your eyes) and sometimes there is still under under your lower eyelid, if it doesn’t bother me I just leave it in until it makes its way to the corners of my eyes then I pick it out otherwise you can just use a q-tip but be careful with the q-tip because sometimes a piece of the cotton(like a fine piece of hair) will go into your eye and it will feel like you have a hair in your eye which is super annoying. But after a few days my infection was gone! I know friends who have done this but it took a week or 2 for their infection to go away. It all depends how often, and how much you use.
I used this same protocol for allergies and It literally opened up my sinus and made the redness in my eyes go away almost immediately!! It was so cool!
So just to give you a little background on what charcoal is and does. This is an explanation from Dr. Axe:
Activated charcoal is a potent natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them. It’s made from a variety of sources, but when used for natural healing, it’s important to select activated charcoal made from coconut shells or other natural sources.
One of the most popular activated charcoal uses is for the safe and effective treatment of poisoning and drug overdoses. It’s used in emergency trauma centers across the world. In addition, it’s used to reduce bloating and gas, lower cholesterol, treat bile flow problems safely during pregnancy (intrahepatic cholestasis) and even prevent hangovers. (1a, 1b)
Research shows that activated charcoal works better than stomach pumping (gastric lavage) in some situations. (2)
So, how does activated charcoal work? Activated charcoal works by trapping toxins and chemicals in its millions of tiny pores. Typically, however, it’s not used when petroleum, alcohol, lye, acids or other corrosive poisons are ingested.
It doesn’t absorb the toxins, however. Instead it works through the chemical process of adsorption. In the body, absorption is the reaction of elements, including nutrients, chemicals and toxins, soaked up and assimilated into the blood stream. Adsorption is the chemical reaction where elements bind to a surface.
The porous surface of activated charcoal has a negative electric charge that causes positive-charged toxins and gas to bond with it. The nooks and crannies in activated charcoal are created through a heating process.
It’s also important to note that activated charcoal is not charcoal used in your barbecue grill! Barbecue charcoal is loaded with toxins and chemicals and should never be consumed.
P.S.S I used this for bloating, gas, stomach aches, diarrhea, face masks, pimples, and to white my teeth and it worked every time. I usually put it in water and drank it for faster absorption.
